VIdeo! evaluation.
We filmed our video! It was mostly succesful. We didn't feel the need to bring our shot list and storyboard, as we decided that we would benefit from a more organic and spontaneous feel. They weren't really a necesity anyway; as the shots we wanted to take were all fairly generic band video style shots of pans, close ups on instruments and close ups on the singer. And most of the effects we needed to achieve, we can do in the editing process: we just wanted to get enough footage to have a varied choice from. We shot the song twice at half speed and at full speed three times so that we could rule out any anomalies in the performances. Shamefuly, we could not film in the larger studio, as it was buisy, so we couldn't film the cut-aways of the band on the sofa. If we are lacking footage for the rough cut, we could allways go and film the bits on the sofa in a different location, wearing the same clothes etc...
I was slightly dissapointed with the studio itself as it wasn't exactly the most visualy engaging setting. Looking at the footage, it was also a bit too dark, we can fix this in final cut though by adjusting the levels of colour and saturation, or use it to add to the slightly monochromatic tone of the song.
The Christopher segment of the shoot was limited as we ran out of time with the camera. The dificulty with filming more is that the weather was incredible on the day of the shoot, so adding more shots from a later date could prove to be a continuity problem, as we have recently descended into the drizzly depths of autumn. We could, however do more shots of Christopher inside, such as; running through corridoors, bursting through doors, climbing over furniature etc.
